By In the 2017 edition of the WTM (World Travel Market), it placed Kuala Lumpur as the world’s 10th Most Visited City with 12.3 million visitors. This is not a surprise because of the many interesting attractions in the city.
The Malaysian capital showcases iconic landmarks – both natural and manmade. Aside from the landmarks, the city is known for its multicultural communities, which mainly consist of Indian, Malay and Chinese. With this, you can find vibrant festivities and events all year round.

The Petronas Towers
The Petronas Towers are truly a sight to behold because it is sprawling in KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center). A visit to Kuala Lumpur is not complete unless you visit the twin towers. It boasts of an 88-storey steel and chrome towers, which are joined at the 41st and 42nd floors through a 58-meter Sky Bridge.
The towers are hard to miss. It is near the Concorde Hotel Monorail stop – in between Jalan Raja and Jalan Ampang. You can take a picture any time of the day – for free. However, if you want to check the Sky Bridge, you need to pay for the ticket.
The Menara KL Tower
If you want to see the 5th tallest structure in the world, you should head to Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. In here, you will find a 421m-high KL Tower. Although the structure is already surpassed by the Petronas Towers, it still remains as a vital architectural marker. Like the Petronas, it also boasts of magnificent views of the city.
You will be taken to the viewing deck, which is at least 276 meters high. In fact, it is higher than the Petronas Tower Sky Bridge by at least 100 meters. The viewing deck is open from 9 AM to 10 PM during weekdays and 09:30 AM to 10 PM during public holidays and the weekends.
Batu Caves
Whether you are a Hindu or not, Batu Caves should not be missed. It is just 11 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur. Many people visit the Caves because it boasts of a 400 million-year-old limestone hill. The highlight is the 100-year old Hindu temple situated inside.
Chinatown
If you are looking for any bargains, you should head to Chinatown. It is a paradise with offers that seemingly never stops. You can find many things here from Chinese herbs to imitation goods. Chinatown is easy to locate because it is at the heart of the city. You cannot miss it because of the bustling and more colorful atmosphere.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building
You can see Moorish-style buildings in Kuala Lumpur by heading to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. The building used to be a secretariat for the colonial British administration. Now the building nestles the offices of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Culture of Malaysia.
Jalan Alor
You can grab local cuisine in Jalan Alor. It is just located behind the Jalan Bukit Bintang. Basically, it features a strip of air-conditioned Chinese seafood restaurants with hawker stalls set up outside. This is a real treat because you get to taste a variety of foods from barbequed meats to noodles and desserts. This is by far the cheapest food centers in the city.
